Aruba Embraces IoT

April 2017

Aruba, a world-leader in wireless network technology, has made the Internet of Things (IoT) a major priority for 2017 and beyond. The Internet of Things (IoT) - a concept which focuses on connecting physical devices to the Internet – has become one of the hottest trends in the world of technology. Aruba has developed a comprehensive suite of enterprise-grade products to take advantage of IoT and its endless possibilities.

At the core of Aruba’s new IoT product suite is the 2540 series of Ethernet access switches. These Layer 2 switches have been designed with both security and performance in mind. Every model in the 2540 series is powered by a dual-core ARM Coretex A9 processor (1016 MHz) with 1GB DDR3 SDRAM. Two of the switches also feature Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability, which is ideal for wireless access points and safety cameras. Device and network security on the 2540 series of switches is world-class: access controls include port security, source-port filtering, MAC address lockout, RADIUS/TACACS+ and SSL.

The 2540 series of switches has been designed to integrate seamlessly with Aruba’s other IoT-enabled products, such as AirWave (network management), ClearPass (advanced security), Aruba Central (cloud-based network management) and Zero Touch Provisioning (device deployment). By combining various elements of the Aruba IoT product suite, organisations can create and manage their own IoT ecosystems and Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) programmes.
